  1. What a wonderful tale! Can you imagine having to cope with so much at age 11? He must have been very brave.

    How do you go to school? I bet you don’t go on a horse!

  2. What a story! Imagine what it must have felt like to be uprooted like that. Have you read the book “Goodbye Mr Tom”? It was one of my favourite books when I was younger. It’s about a boy who was evacuated, just like Mr Bob. I highly recommend it!

  3. Ive often wondered what it must have felt like to be moved away from family and friends especially when they were somewhere that might be bombed. It is lovely to read a true account. It sounded like a real adventure with a proper happy ending!

  4. This is wonderful, Grace. Many children would have felt very lonely and insecure being sent away from their parents. How tragic it would have been fro the parents of the children lost at sea to a U-boat attack.
